Prof. Al-Ali is with computer science and engineering at the American University of Sharjah since Sept 2000. He previously was at the electrical engineering department at KFUPM, KSA 1991-2000.

His research and teaching interests include embedded systems hardware and software architectures, interface and programming, Cyber physical systems an IoT applications in smart cities including smart grid, remote monitoring and control industrial plants using PLCs and SCADA. Dr. Al-Ali has more than 150 publications, one US patent and one European patent.

Dr. Al-Ali has been a keynote and an invited speaker at several conferences. He is life-time senior member IEEE and listed among the World’s World’s Top 2% Scientists career long by Stanford University.
